Here are some projects I've worked on:

• Creating a docker-free developer environment.

  Docker has become the a common tool to manage developer environments.
  On OSX, there is a high performance tax because docker runs inside a virtual machine.
  In my role at Ellevest, I replaced our complex docker environment with multiple containers with push-button developer environment.
  Homebrew and ruby gems served as package managers.
  Using bash, I created a CLI interface to manage the environment. For example:

  • ./dev init to create a new environment
  • ./dev start to start servers

  Doing this today, I would use nixOS to manage dependencies instead.

• Defining a career ladder.

  In order to align hiring, leveling and career progression across the engineering team, I led the effort to define a career ladder at Ellevest.
  The overarching framework highlighted three types of skills:

  1. Technical: e.g writing code, reviewing code, designing systems, project planning
  3. Personal: e.g time management, motivation, goal-setting, self-improvement
  5. Interpersonal: e.g collaboration, giving/receiving feedback, leadership
